The Church and the Poor:
Missionaries of the Poor
For Fr. Richard Ho Lung, the words of Jesus in the Eucharistic celebration are the center of his daily prayer and life’s work. Fr. Ho Lung is founder of the Missionaries of the Poor…more than 400 Brothers and Priests who live the Mass every day as they serve God’s poor and abandoned in Kingston, Jamaica…and around the world in countries, like Haiti, India, the Philippines, and Uganda. For these young men, life is simple. One filled with prayer and faith. For them, the Mass is not a ritual. It is a way of life…a way to bring Christ to the world. Each day, the Brothers care for children and individuals that have been the victims of sin and neglect. The Missionaries of the Poor live lives of poverty and obedience…sacrificing everything for the glory of God… centered in prayer, their lives are joyful service with Christ on the Cross as they bring Christ from the altar of the Mass into the world and into the hearts of God's people.
