Street Kids of Cochabamba
Soles stained by the dirt and grime of the paths their young owners have followed all too long. They belong to a band of street kids. Boys ranging in age from six to ten. Some simply abandoned by their parents. Others running away from abusive and violent homes. But all of them hurting and in desperate need of care and love. This is all part of a program called Amanecer, a Spanish word meaning beginning of a new day. It is a program founded on a Christ-centered commitment to provide help for a growing number of boys and girls forced to live on the streets of Cochabamba, Bolivia. For all of the obvious and seemingly endless injustice, this is a story of promise. For it is here that hundreds of boys and girls begin to learn about and experience hope.
