The Holy Land is, indeed, a land of contradictions. Today in the land of Christ…the Christian population is dwindling in record numbers. Officials estimate the total number of Christians in the Holy Land is now less than three percent. Because of the political unrest in the region, Christian families are suffering. They are unable to find good jobs, adequate housing or education for their children. In simple terms, the challenges of ongoing religious persecution are forcing out the Christians. Mary’s Son, Jesus, the Prince of Peace, came to bring His message of love and salvation. After all these years, the message continues to go unheeded. But, in this Land where Jesus walked, taught, prayed, died, and was resurrected…the call remains the same. Rooted in the ancient promise of God, all of us are called to work for equality, justice and peace. It’s what makes the promise of any future here one filled with hope. |
